María Bernaldo de Quirós ( 1913 – 2015 ) learned to fly at the Academy of the Royal Aero Club of Spain in Getafe. On November 24 1928, Bernaldo became the first Spanish woman to earn a pilot licence.
She gave flight lessons and was dedicated to educating and training future pilots. When the Civil War began, she participated in propaganda operations on the Republican side. She used her plane to drop anti-fascist pamphlets.
